Still Kicking!

Well, you know how things go. You lose track of time and forget to update the blog. Let me catch you up to speed since the last post:

• We played Summerfest again this year and it RULED. Thanks to everyone that came out!
• John bought a house and forced us... uh, I mean... we volunteered to help him remodel it.
• Nick went to San Diego and stayed classy.
• Chad and Ryan played a show with our friend John's band Asseveration - check 'em out!
• I didn't sleep because having a 5 month old does that to you.

We are currently writing tons of new material for another record. What's that you say? But Modern Science just came out?! Well, yeah, but we are efficient like that and want to bring you guys even more RT music!

Keep your eyes peeled on upcoming shows in late summer and fall. Hope to see you all there.

Take care,
Derek &RT

So much going on!

So, it's been a couple months since we've updated this, but with good reason! Lots of stuff has been going on.

First off, the record is days away from going to press!!! We are very excited to get this thing launched. We are planning a CD release show for possibly in May. We will keep you posted on it - should be awesome.

Second, my wife and I just brought a beautiful baby boy into the world on March 7th. His name is Riley and I must say he has very strong wrists so it won't be very long before he shows me up behind the kit.

The rest of the guys have been hard at work writing new music while I am away on baby time. We should have a bunch of new tunes implemented into our set by this summer.

We played a handful of shows this year so far and all of them were excellent. We met many good people and had so much fun! If you would like us to play a show in your town, drop me a line at derek@revisiontext.com and we'll try to make it there!

Hope all of you are doing well - hope to see you at a show soon!

We finally gave in to the shiny internet gleam of YouTube. Take a look see and leave a comment or two, won't you?

WATCH RT HERE

In other news, we are almost done with the mastering of the record. We have a novel idea for the packaging that we think all of you will really enjoy. Stay tuned.

Also, we hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday season. Much love.

See you at a show,
Derek & RT

Finally Nearing Completion

We are 99% done with mixing the record! One last song to go over, some final tweaks, and the mixing is done. We are currently working out where we will get it mastered, but it will be somewhere local. Also, our good friend Tim is hashing out some killer artwork for the record which is sure not to disappoint.

We are so excited to be to this stage of the process. Between finishing touches on building the studio live room, to mixing the record, to putting together a control room, to acquiring more gear, to selling other gear, to being sick, to partying it up for Chad's 30th, to practicing endlessly, to squeezing in a show here and there, we are GLAD to be here.

Thanks for your support. We can't wait to wrap this gem up and deliver it first hand to you to enjoy and call for your very own. We hope you will agree it was well worth the wait.

Soonly,
Derek & RT

Text Mix™ by General Mills

Great news everyone! We are full steam ahead on mixing the record and from how it sounds currently, the final product is sure to be well worth the wait. Then comes mastering and packaging and DONE.

Don't forget we are doing a show while we finish the record October 25th at Points East Pub here in Milwaukee. Should be an AWESOME time. It's a drinking show, but have no fear, we will be setting up tons of shows in support of the record as soon as we decide on a release date. And of course a release party as well!

Also, if you see my little brother today, slap him happy birthday from me and RT.

Frosting,
Derek & RT

We are DONE with vocals for the record. Next is last minute additions, some backing vocals, etc. and we should be able to wrap up all the recording for the album! We are all super excited to start post production on this project. Everything is sounding great.

Also, we are doing a few shows around the Milwaukee, WI are this fall to keep our chops up, so please check out our shows listing on the RT MySpace page. We hope to see all of you there!

Holy Awesome!

We really want to thank everyone who came out to our two shows this past week at the Cactus Club and Summerfest. We had a blast and we can't say thanks enough times for all of your love and support.

Also, thanks to all the bands we played with as well - all were exceptional.

We are now focused towards diving back into the studio and finishing our record. We need to polish some stuff up and add a bunch of vocals, but we are looking forward to it's release in late summer.

Take care for now,
Derek & RT

Things Goings Ons

So, here's the latest from the RT front:

Shows! Yes, that's right. We have a show scheduled for June 28th at Summerfest in Milwaukee, WI. We are very excited to be playing out once again. We decided to stretch our hamstrings and do a warm up appearance on June 25th at the Cactus Club in Milwaukee, WI with some good friends. Should be awesome. Check out our MySpace page for complete info (www.myspace.com/revisiontext).

We have also streamlined our main website (www.revisiontext.com) for ease of use and your enjoyment. Thanks to our art mastermind Tim who rules.

The record is on a slight pause as we rehearse for the upcoming shows, but have no fear, it is moving right along and it is sounding excellent.

More updates in the near future. See you at the shows!!!

Rock it,
Derek & RT

We Are Back!

It's my absolute pleasure to announce that we have our first show scheduled back from our recording slumber!

We will be playing Summerfest in Milwaukee, WI on Saturday, June 28th at 5:30PM along with other really great bands on the Groove Garage stage located near the entrance of the Marcus Ampitheater. If any of you saw us there last year, you know exactly where it is. Bring everyone you know and come welcome us back!

The new record is going awesome and we are making great progress. In the next 2 weeks we will be starting vocals which we are very excited about. We really want to have this thing done by our first show back, but we will see how it goes. We may at least have a 3 or 4 song sampler to hand out to get people excited about the record.

That's it for now. Stay tuned for more upcoming shows and updates on the record's progress.

Peace,
Derek & RT

Bass! How low can you go? Death row what a brutha knows...

I'm pleased to announce that Ryan has slaughtered every bass track for the album! Everything sounds great.

Nice work, fellow beardsman, nice work.

We also welcome Chad back from Japan!

Drums are a Wrap!

I'm glad to report that all 12 tracks of drums are done for the record. Everything went great. Now I can sit back and annoy... uh, I mean help the other guys with their parts.

Ryan has bass down for over half of the tracks and it's going very well. John also has stuff down on a few, as well as Nick & Chad. Chad is in Japan right now eating sushi and getting hit on by hot asian girls. Must be rough.

I leave you with a few shots from beneath the earth:

Peace,
Derek & RT

Stu-Stu-Studio

Phil Collins would be proud of this post's clever title. Maybe you could say I felt it coming in the air tonight? Or that I thought about it twice because it's another day for you and me in paradise? Ok. Sorry. I'll stop.

We had a great tracking session yesterday. We got 3 more songs tracked with drums, even though I was extremely exhausted. That brings the tally to 9 of the 12 songs with drums laid down.

Chad leaves for a Tokyo trip in a week and a half, so we are trying to polish up the last 3 songs before he leaves so we can do the final tracking of them. We will be cranking on everyone else's parts while he's abroad and he will be finishing up when he returns in early April. Then it's vocals time and by the sounds of the vocal demos Nick has been working on, all I can say is I am very, very thrilled.

We are all very excited about the record and can't wait to finish it up and be back out playing shows and seeing everyone again. There is a glimmer on the horizon.

Peace,
Derek & RT

Studio Update

It's been a short while so I thought I'd bring you all up to speed. Hope you are all well.

The new record is going great. We did demos of about 15 songs and then whittled them down to about 12 solid ones that we will so a final recording of. We are aiming to have the record contain 10-12 of those precious jams.

We have drums and bass tracked for 4 of the songs so far with keys on one and beginnings of guitars on a few. We couldn't be happier with how things are going and the sound we are getting is phenomenal.

We are all anxious to get this puppy done and be back out playing shows for you all, but goodness takes time and we want all of you to love what you hear.

Peace,
Derek & RT

Happy Holidays

Happy Holidays to everyone out there. Be safe.

Cheers to the New Year. We will all be engaged in a fierce Guitar Hero 3 battle at my house. Time for the drummer to show up the stringed ones - or I could very well meet my demise. It's anyone's guess.

Peace,
Derek & RT

The Haps on the Craps

Lots of stuff has been going on with RT lately, and we just wanted to fill you in.

We self-recorded our first 3 song EP "Test Pilot" early this year which went over quite well. You can still download the songs for free on out MySpace page. We also played a handful of shows this summer and fall and made tons of great friends in the process.

Over the past year, almost every Sunday was spent building a recording studio in one of our basements. It was a time of manly men with tool belts and lots of clumsy bloodshed. Finally, this past October we finished it. A few trim pieces need to be cut and nailed up yet, but for the most part, it's complete.

We are very excited to announce that we are currently hunkered down in our studio and working on a full length record due out next year sometime around spring. Good thing we all shower often. We won't be playing any shows over the winter so we can give out total focus on the record. Once it's done, it will be shows galore.

Things are going very well at this point, as we are midst a write, write, write and write mode. Oh, and we wrote some stuff, too in there somewhere. We will keep you posted on the progress and we hope you are just as excited as we are.

Here are a few photos from the studio...

That's it for now. Take care everyone.
